Integrating citizen science in European Research proposals – Horizon Europe collaborative projects, MSCA actions, and ERC projects

Description: This three-hour workshop will share the experience and recommendations for integrating citizen science activities into research projects that are running within the Horizon Europe programme. We will start with background on the framework for public engagement and citizen science within Horizon Europe. We will introduce important documents and concepts that were developed by the European Commission and can be used as a reference for such integration. We then cover the role of citizen science within the collaborative project in the different areas of Horizon Europe (such as climate or the European Research Area). We will also cover aspects that are relevant to fellowship applications, such as MSCA postdoctoral fellowships and ERC projects, as well as doctoral networks. The workshop will use examples from a range of projects that the European Citizen Science Association is involved in, and it will include presentations from people who have run citizen science within their project.
The training is provided by the European Citizen Science Academy.
Who should attend?
The training is addressed to all Romanian researchers working in or intending to work in citizen science, as well as academics, practitioners, and project managers who are interested in applying participatory methods in their research and innovation activities. It is also relevant for PhD students, early-career researchers, and institutional staff engaged in Open Science practices, research ethics, or community engagement.
